What’s the best thing about Manchester?

It constantly evolves around a creative vision of what a city should be whilst being true to its Northern, industrial, fair trade, free thinking roots. A proud city, with proud history of putting the rights of people first. The Lincoln Memorial is one of my favourite things to visit in Manchester.

What has been your biggest disappointment?

I try not to do disappointment or regret; such a waste of energy. When things don’t work out, I try to see it as an opportunity to change course, do something different or differently. As Nelson Mandela said, you either win or your learn.

What advice would you give to your 15 year-old self?

Stop plucking your eyebrows. You’re not fat, wear the shorts. Don’t be afraid, you can do it. All the things you worry about are the least worst things which will happen and you’ll survive the rubbish stuff too. Stop messing with your hair and don’t let Auntie Anne anywhere near you with a home perm kit.
