Kelly Gilmour-Grassam
Kelly is the Founder and Director of Making You Content, a leading content agency in Manchester. Having always had a passion for words, Kelly began picking up freelance writing gigs at university, before pursuing this career full-time upon graduation and quickly being named IPSE’s Freelancer of the Year. Today, she heads up a team of writers, editors and social media managers from her Northern Quarter offices, supporting a wide range of clients with their branding and marketing.

Hyper, keen, competitive
What’s the best thing about Manchester?
The people! I’m an adopted Mancunian and it didn’t take me long to feel at home. The Manchester business community is so welcoming – there’s so many opportunities to meet like-minded people.
What has been your biggest disappointment?
It’s hard to pinpoint one big disappointment, but business is full of little setbacks. It takes a while to harden yourself to these but it’s important to notice the positives – there’s always more.
How do you relax?
I’ve started DJing in my spare time and while it’s not what some would call ‘relaxing’, it really helps me to switch off from work and tune into something else I’m passionate about: music.

What advice would you give to your 15 year-old self?
Becoming an ‘adult’ doesn’t mean letting go of the things you love and that make you one of a kind. The trick is to hone them.
