Pupils receive professional insight at Creative Careers event

Last week, aspiring creatives from St Thomas More College in Denton and St Monica’s High School were treated to an inspiring creative careers event at Upp B2B’s offices in Media City.

The day began with Peter Davis, Fine Artist and Creative Director at Upp B2B, who shared his journey and offered valuable advice on building a portfolio and showcasing work effectively.

Students also heard from Photographer Rob Evans, Animator Jon Turner, and Graphic Designer Fahima Patel. Each professional shared their unique career paths and inspirations, emphasising the importance of passion in their work.

“Stick to what you enjoy, and you’ll end up doing something you love.”

After the engaging presentations, students were treated to a session of one-on-one advice with the speakers, alongside Fine Artist Jen Orpin. The session allowed the pupils to interact directly with the speakers, asking personalised questions and receiving tailored advice.

Cathy Mullane, a teacher at St Thomas More said: A big thank you to State Talking for organising this fantastic event for our pupils, and to all of the professionals at Media City!

Brittany Nutting-Ashworth, State Talking said: “It was truly inspiring to see the pupils so engaged and enthusiastic about exploring careers in the creative industry. We’re so thrilled to have provided this opportunity for them to learn directly from talented professionals at Media City.
