First Class Talk From First Class Grad

When biomedical science graduate Yaman Toumeh went to talk to key stage three students at a Stockport school, it got him thinking about the importance of early exposure to different career options.

On a visit to St. Anne’s RC Voluntary Academy in Heaton Chapel, Yaman spoke to year 7 and 8 students about his own journey, his placement year and his route towards a career in biomedical science.

The recent Salford University graduate (first class honours no less) was an enthusiastic advocate for lesser known STEM careers.

Writing on LinkedIn, to thank StateTalking and Ana Simmons, assistant headteacher at the school, Yaman said: “Across the morning, I spoke to several small groups of curious and enthusiastic students, each bringing their own questions and interests.

“It was a reminder of how important early exposure to different professions is and how valuable it can be to share real experiences, especially in STEM fields.

“It was encouraging to see how engaged and curious the students were. Their questions and enthusiasm gave me real confidence in the next generation.”
