Bolton students learn about a day in the life of a lawyer

Year 11s at Bolton St Catherine’s Academy enjoyed meeting lawyer Melissa Jones when she came into school for a careers talk.

Organised via StateTalking by Ms Millin, the school said the talk was ‘a fantastic opportunity for our students’.

Melissa, who graduated from Lancaster University and College of Law in Chester, is a senior associate with McAlister Family Law, a specialist practice of the Beyond Law Group. She spoke about her career journey, the expectations of working in law, and the different pathways into the profession.

Writing on LinkedIn, she said: “I had the pleasure of speaking with a brilliant group of Year 11 students this week about what a career in law really looks like.

“Year 11 isn’t easy and I was blown away by their questions and the time they gave up from their busy studies to attend the session. Good luck to the students and to our future lawyers!”

Posting on Instagram, the school said: “A huge thank you to StateTalking for providing such an inspiring and insightful experience for our students.”
