Students at a Trafford grammar school got the inside scoop on working in architecture thanks to two StateTalking speakers.
The Urmston Grammar School Year 7s heard from Sarah Renshaw and Jessica Bell from architectural & urban regeneration consultants MCAU.
The pair talked about their own journeys into the sector, current and possible future pathways into the popular career and what an architect actually does. They were able to advise on career development and progression, and about the importance of trusting in your own abilities, investing time and effort and not being afraid to ask questions.
Students also learned about the projects Jessica and Sarah are working on in the north west region.
Sarah Renshaw, director MCAU, said, posting on LinkedIn: “I loved being part of this! Thank you for inviting us to speak with some wonderful young people. Happy to come back.”
Writing on their website, the school said: “With huge thanks to Jessica and Sarah for giving their time to inspire Year 7, and to our careers department for organising another fantastic opportunity for our students to engage with representatives from professions that they aspire to work in.”
